BRICK: EP Review

After around a year of existence and two single releases, Raleigh hardcore outfit BRICK has officially released its first EP. With a runtime of 14 minutes and six songs, there is plenty to talk about with this release. With that being said, let’s get into the EP and break it down by song.

BRICK CITY B*TCH

By now, BRICK CITY B*TCH is a Raleigh hardcore classic. With powerful guitars and tempo changes galore, there is plenty of intrigue packed into this opening track. First released as a single in October of 2025, BRICK CITY B*TCH has become an anthem for the band as a whole and is even included on T-shirts produced by the group.

INTRO//DAMN

This track opens with a growing bass and sounds of bricks being scraped on concrete. When the guitars hit, the track explodes into the usual sound one could expect from BRICK. However, mid way through the track, an extremely groovy guitar line hits that is one of the best parts of the EP for me. This track is a strong start to the new material in the EP.

CHUNKS

Originally released in November of 2025, CHUNKS is one of the heaviest songs on the EP. The track is full of the extreme vocals and screaming guitars expected from a hardcore song. This track is the archetype of heavy for this EP and shows how versatile BRICK can be when it comes to turning the knob up to 11.

BRICK

Time for the title track. BRICK on BRICK by BRICK. All jokes aside, this song contains some of the best guitar writing of the entire EP for such a short track. The harmonics on the lead line are immaculate, and the bass growl is a nice compliment. This is one of the top tracks of the EP for me for sure.

I ONLY EAT WHAT MAKES ME SICK

I ONLY EAT WHAT MAKES ME SICK is my personal pick for the best track on the EP by far. The overtly political nature of the track, mixed with the heavy lyrics make for a very enjoyable listening experience in my opinion. The intro drums and outro bass are some of my favorite parts of this song for sure.

SURF N TURF

This track is a strong finish to a strong release from BRICK. The lyricism is heavy with this one. The resonating line for me is “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe anymore”. The delivery from Murphy is top-tier on this track

Final Thoughts

This EP is a strong start to an explosive career for BRICK as a group in the Raleigh Hardcore scene. I am excited to see where they land in the next year of their time as a group. This EP was an enjoyable listen, and I would recommend it to anyone inside or out of the scene.
