Between the winter snowfall, Snow Strippers arrived at The Fillmore Charlotte to play a sold-out show on Thursday, Jan. 29. The cold did not stop the long line of fans wrapped around the venue before doors opened. Everyone was dressed in their coolest outfits, excited and ready for the night to begin.
Snow Strippers is made up of vocalist Tatiana Schwainger and producer Graham Perez, who met on Tinder before starting to create music together in 2021. Their EDM sound can be described as electropop with elements of techno, rave, and hyperpop. The duo is most known for their breakout song “Under Your Spell” and collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, which helped expand their audience.
You will enjoy their music if you are drawn to the indie-sleaze, late-night club aesthetic. Think blown-out flash photos, fur boots, low-res distortion, neon strobe lights, and digital cameras. The controlled chaos feels a part of the Y2K world.
On stage, Snow Strippers delivered a high-energy performance, making it clear why they have a growing fanbase. The setlist included songs that bridged across their mixtapes, EPs, and album. Hearing them live elevated each song’s danceability with flashing lights and a driving beat. It had everyone jumping, moshing, and singing along. Many were pressed against the barricade, and some of the crowd climbed onto shoulders and columns in the venue, just living in the moment. By the end, Snow Strippers successfully created an environment for the audience to let go and simply have fun.
