Have you ever thought to yourself, “Where can I go to see the artists before they become popular?” There are many venues, big and small, all around the NC State and Raleigh area. I’m going to focus on the latter: small house venues.
Most Well Known
Some of the more well known and older venues might be Q House, Blue Door, Broken Door or The Wedge. I can’t speak for everyone but I know that before I became involved in the local music scene, even I had heard of Blue Door and Broken Door.
I’ve only been to Blue Door out of all of these but I had a blast there. The energy was great and there was a big turnout.
These venues have been quite popular and fairly easily accessible from NC State’s campus. Sadly, some of these venues are retired or slowing down. The best way to know about upcoming events and shows for these venues would be to check their Instagram pages regularly.

Newer Venues
Despite this, there are some newer house show venues rising in popularity. These would include CityHouse, The Edge and The Woods. I have personally performed at CityHouse and The Woods and I have to say that they have a great vibe.
All three of these venues do not have their addresses listed. However, they usually either post the address on Instagram day of or they ask you to DM them. In my experience, The Woods is a little further off campus but CityHouse is pretty accessible.

There are new venues popping up all the time. The best way to find these venues and shows really is just keeping an eye out on Instagram for new show announcements, band posters and even keeping up with Instagram pages specifically set up to show off what shows are happening when and where.
Some other venues might include, but are not limited to Tree House, panther lake, plexi etc.
