Three of the local acts that played WKNC’s Double Barrel Benefit 11 in February of this year brought their talent to Hopscotch Music Festival two weekends ago. One of these three was Durham-based folk duo Loamlands, comprised of Kym Register and Will Hackney of Midtown Dickens. These two released their debut EP Some Kind of Light in the fall of last year after recording in just three days. The two embarked on two consecutive tours this summer, first with indie pop artist Mirah and then with The Mountain Goats of Merge Records. After traversing the country from Seattle right back to our very own Kings Barcade, the two are back at home and working on some exciting new material.
Loamlands joined me on Friday, September 5th, during WKNC’s live broadcast from Hopscotch’s Wristband City for an interview before their performance at Lincoln Theater later that night. Check it out for adventurous stories from their tour(s) this summer, advice for new Hopscotch-goers, as well as Loamlands news!
